No kidding: Rock's on for Earth Day Tod Caviness | Sentinel Staff Writer March 7, 2008 Article tools E-mail Share Digg Del.icio.us Facebook Fark Google Newsvine Reddit Yahoo Print Reprints Post comment Text size: We're a little confused. Did WJRR's yearly "Earthday Birthday" concert ever have anything to do with Earth Day?
It does feature rap-rocker and mullet revivalist Kid Rock this year, who we assume is heavily into the environment. We never really listened to the lyrics on "So Hott," but we're pretty sure it's about global warming. And he did play a benefit concert for Hurricane Katrina once.
We salute you, Mr. Rock, and not just because you're wearing a flag on your trucker cap. You've united hip-hop and country, took pity on Pamela Anderson, and now you're saving our planet. Real Americans like you are fighting the good fight -- and we're not talking about that time you a punched a guy at Waffle House.
Kid Rock plays the Earthday Birthday concert at Tinker Field with Serj Tankian, 3 Doors Down, Shinedown, Filter and others on May 10. Tickets are $45, on sale today at 10 a.m.
