The 37-year-old white trash icon (aka Bob Ritchie) is known for his love of cheap beer and cheaper women, but there's more to the rapper-turned-rocker than meets the bloodshot eye. Rock rapped about his partying, his peers and his obsession with neatness in advance of his Saturday concert at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre. 8 p.m. $12.50-$65. 704-522-6500; www.ticketmaster.com.
You've done your share of partying since you've become a star. But apparently you're close to your family. You bought a house 20 minutes from your parents. Why aren't you tempted to lead life in the fast lane full-time like Tommy Lee? I've done enough of that kind of living already. I still party but I would rather be with my family. I want to be at home with my son more than anything. I love my family.
Since your breakthrough album "Devil Without a Cause" went through the stratosphere, you've been at some wild parties. What soiree was the most surreal? My head spins when I think of all the crazy stuff I've seen. I remember going to the White House and having dinner next to Gregory Peck, Jack Nicholson and Bill Clinton. What's wrong with this room? Kid Rock is at the bar.
You're friends with fellow Motowner Eminem but it's as if you two are night and day. What's the biggest difference between you and Marshall Mathers? There's a lot that's different about us. My mom summed it up best. She was watching him on an awards show years ago and a bunch of pills fell out of his pocket, which I thought was hysterical. But she said, `It's so sad for him. He has no one to thank.' You can have all the money in the world and all the success but what does it matter if you don't have anyone to share it with?"
You once rapped that "I Got Rich Off a Keeping it Real/While You Radioheads Are Reinventing the Wheel" What's your take on Radiohead? I just don't understand Radiohead. They have these beats with weird sounds on them and people are like, `Wow, I don't understand this. It must be great.' All I know is that if you're having a pool party and you want to kick the party up a notch, you don't go grabbing for the Radiohead. It's just not fun.
What don't your fans know about you? I'm obsessed with neatness. I'm totally anal. That's funny considering how dirty I always appear to be.
