Kid Rock and Neil Diamond may not have much in common. Advertisement
But the musical artists both have banners in the rafters at the home of the NBA’s Detroit Pistons.
The Pistons honored Kid Rock for selling out a slew of concerts during a break in their game Friday night against the Boston Celtics, unveiling a banner with his name and “18” on it.
Rock’s banner will join those honoring fellow entertainers Diamond, Bon Jovi and Alan Jackson, all of whom have been concert staples at the 20-year-old venue. He’ll also be among retired Pistons jerseys for players such as Bill Laimbeer, Isiah Thomas and Vinnie Johnson.
In other news: Kid Rock has been added to the performance lineup for the upcoming Grammy Awards, to air live from Los Angeles on Feb. 8. He’s also slated to play during a Grammy tribute to Neil Diamond two days earlier, honoring Diamond’s selection as the MusiCares Person of the Year
