DARIEN — Ninety-six people were charged with underage drinking as part of a joint operation Tuesday during the Kid Rock/Lynyrd Skynrd concert at Darien Lake Performing Arts Center, Genesee County sheriff’s deputies said.
In addition, the man who was operating the tour bus for the band and crew members of Kid Rock was charged with driving while intoxicated at 1:58 a.m. today on Route 77 in Pembroke, deputies said.
The bus driver, Joseph S. Devlin, 37, of St. Augustine, Fla. was charged with DWI and aggravated DWI, a felony.
While traveling northbound on Route 77, the defendant allegedly failed to keep right. Further investigation revealed that Devlin was intoxicated, deputies said. Devlin was remanded to Genesee County Jail on $10,000 bail.

The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office and State Police carried out the joint underage drinking operation in and around the Darien Lake concert area Tuesday afternoon and evening. They were joined in the operation by three Genesee County probation officers, the State Police Aviation Unit and supported by Genesee-Orleans Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse.
The 96 suspects charged with violation of the state's Alcoholic Beverage Control Law ranged from 16 to 20 years old and were from throughout Western New York.
The operation was a result of complaints of underage drinking and disorderly conduct at the 1516 Sumner Rd. lot also known as ‘‘the hill.’’ Officials said they intend to continue stepped-up enforcement in this area.
